This was my submission for the culmination of Other Means’ and Fraser Muggeridge’s 2018 Typography Summer School, a project for client Recess Gallery, Brooklyn’s multidisciplinary radical arts organization. The aim was to create a visual and conceptual identity for an archive and year-long retrospective of exhibition materials spanning the past decade. Focusing on critical topics tackled by the group throughout its history (e.g. gender identity, incarceration, human interaction), I designed a newspaper program, poster series, postcards, and a web experience in which users input keywords to generate archival results. Working in this alternative pedagogical space deepend my affinity for typography as both a communication tool and an artistic medium in itself.
